We have an exciting opportunity for an Astromaterials Small Particles Processor to join our team.

The selected candidate will:

  • Process astromaterial sample allocations
  • Prepare transfer and weigh samples, and track the movement of these samples through the Curation database
  • Provide petrographic characterization, digital imaging, inventory and cataloging of astromaterial samples
  • Develop skills to work with delicate carbonaceous chondrite materials
  • Use ultramicrotomy to prepare astromaterials for electron microscopy
  • Use micro-manipulation apparatus and various techniques to process, store, and allocate micro-particle Astromaterials
  • Perform other tasks as required

Experience Requirements:

• BS degree is typically required

• Experience working in a clean-room laboratory

• Experience preparing ultramicrotomed samples

• Experience with electron microscopy imaging/analysis

• Have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team

• Attention to detail and highly developed organizational skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, and experience working with databases

Préférences :

  • BS degree from an accredited college or university in an associated technical discipline and six (6) years related experience, or MS degree in an associated technical discipline with four (4) years of related experience, or Ph.D. in an associated technical discipline and one (1) year related experience.
  • Master's degree in geology, biology, physics, chemistry, or a related physical science field
  • Experience with manipulation of micro-particles using glass needles
  • Experience processing and analyzing carbonaceous chondrite meteorite materials
  • Experience working with sample databases
