We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Analysis, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to join our team with Teammate company, Nexus Solutions.

The Senior Propulsion Engineer will:

  • Review system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, assembly procedures, test plans, procedures, and data of Commercial Crew Vehicle Propulsion Systems to ensure approaches are sound, component/material selection is appropriate for the intended usage, and suitable for the proposed application.
  • Provide recommendations for program acceptance of requirements verification, testing, and hazards.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, test plans, and procedures if disparities/deficiencies are identified.
  • Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from test data.
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Travel as required in support of technical reviews and exchanges.
  • Work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other work features that are broad in scope and complexity.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Work Environment:

Generally, an office environment can involve inside or outside work, depending on the task.

    Physical Requirements:

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). It may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5%of the time).

      Equipment and Machines:

      Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

        Attendance:

        Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical—the ability to work outside the regular schedule and adjust the program to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

          Other Essential Functions:

          Professional behavior enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

          Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and usually possess 10-15 years of related experience.

            EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and usually possess 10-15 years of related experience.

            EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

            • Minimum ten years of spacecraft propulsion experience focused on mechanical aspects.
            • Experience in the design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space propulsion systems and components.
            • Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements verification and validation between multiple organizations.
            • Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, testing, and office software.
            • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
            • Confident in knowledge and experience and able to discuss propulsion topics with subject matter experts.

            Requisition Preferences:

            • Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
            • Familiarity with the NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle Process.
